The lighting requirements for supermarkets are more complex than they may initially appear. After all, the goal is to enhance the shopping experience, increase customer dwell time, and ensure flexibility for future store modifications through the right choice of luminaires. For the new EDEKA Schomacker in Bremerhaven, these requirements were integrated into the lighting design from the very beginning.

The diffuse ambient lighting in the aisles is provided by LINEAR Pro Tilt area luminaires, which were specifically developed for use in supermarkets and other retail environments. Once installed, the luminaire head can either be directed downward or tilted up to 30° to either side to highlight product shelves precisely and without glare. At the customer’s request, the LINEAR Pro luminaires were equipped and delivered with warm white LED light sources [3,000 K]. At the checkout zones and in other selected areas, minimalist LUCEA spotlights in a subtle black housing are used. Like the LINEAR Pro luminaires, the LUCEA spots are connected to a 3-phase track system, enabling flexible positioning and precise alignment for targeted illumination of product and service zones. The use of interchangeable reflectors allows the beam angle to be further customized. The lighting design and 3D visualization of the project were carried out by DEKO-LIGHT’s in-house team. On-site installation was performed by the lighting installation service provider Mehrlicht.
