MODERN VINOTHEQUE FROM THE MÜLLER KERN WINERY

More and more often, traditional wineries are designing their wine bars in a minimalist-modern style. The cleaner the ambience, the more important the precise planning of the lighting.

The Müller-Kern winery in Neustadt-Hambach in the Palatinate is a true family business and is now run by the second generation. Not only do the siblings Steffen and Patricia Müller-Kern pursue a thoroughly progressive approach with their near-natural and environmentally friendly cultivation of the vineyards, but the winery itself is a gem that skilfully knows how to combine tradition and modernity. An important step in this respect is the two-storey vinotheque, which was added to the old winery in February 2020. While the exterior is dominated by lots of wood, the minimalist interior is characterised by clear lines and flexible lighting from DEKO-LIGHT.

The most obvious feature in the main room of the vinotheque is the all-round ceiling cornice made of corner profiles (AV 03-12). RGB and warm white LED strips are used as linear light sources, which in combination ensure homogeneous illumination and light output in the white light range. Based on the integrated LCN bus control, light pastel shades can be implemented in addition to strong RGB colours. For the illumination of the central counter and the tables, a 3-phase track was mounted on the ceiling.

While in normal operation, discreet Barro II Pendelleuchtencreate a punctual illumination and allow an unobstructed view into the room, the tracks allow variable, universal use within the framework of special events, including changed room layouts. Conductor rails are also used in the upper area, but due to the low ceiling height, they are recessed into the ceiling and hung with Filo Ball pendant luminaires.

At the Müller-Kern winery, the focus is naturally on the wine. For this reason, the estate's wines are prominently presented in an elongated wine rack and backlit using RGBW strips. The backlighting of the Müller-Kern logo in the central counter was also realised using RGBW LEDs.

To set the scene for the Müller-Kern Vinothek's façade, which is completely clad in wood, Elektro Grün installed recessed wall luminaires from the Line series with an asymmetrical beam angle whose colour tone emphasises the warm character of the sandstone. At the same time, LED strips on the handrails of the exterior staircase provide additional atmosphere and depth.
